Technical Terms:
Concentric / Eccentric (Negative) Workout
The concentric phase of the movement is performed with a given level of resistance. At the eccentric phase, the resistance provided is higher than the maximal concentric resistance.
Isokinetic Workout
Isokinetic contraction is defined as a movement performed at a defined speed. No matter how much force is applied, the velocity will remain the same as initially programmed.
This is a very effective, safe workout technique, eliminating the risks associated with the use of weights.
Isometric Workout
The joint movement is sectioned into different parts (for example every 40 degrees).
Each of these parts entails of an Isometric contraction, and after a short break the machine repositions itself.
Variable Resistance Curve
The movement resistance level adapts to the strength curve of the muscle group being used. When at a given position the muscle is stronger, more resistance is generated.
Pyramid Training
Pyramid training provides varying resistance levels with every new workout set. The number of sets, the increment or decrement in weight (or a combination of both), and the number of repetitions in each set can be changed to plan different training modes and programs.
